Set in a unique magical world inspired by West African mythology, this is the second book in my unmissable new fantasy adventure series. Perfect for fans of Marvel and Percy Jackson.
This was a delight to read. It was filled with action, adventure and was written in such a descriptive way that I felt I was part of the story. The graphics, design and front cover all really appealed to me and added to the excitement in my opinion. I think this will prove popular within our Library.
A fun and exciting book It is a breathtaking exciting book that is brilliant and fun in every way, shape or form. It is jam-packed with action. Yoruba culture is depicted here which is important for representation. It is a necessary book for everyone to read so as to expand and explore their minds.
The story is very well paced and filled with lovable characters. There are many nostalgic references for people of the Yoruba ethnicity. I also personally appreciated that there was a voice given to sickle-cell children that may be struggling with the condition. It's a book which validates the experiences of growing up in the diaspora. Well written, sentimental, humorous and exciting - Koku Akanbi and the Heart of Midnight is a great entry.
