Talks

If you’d like me to visit your school or speak at your event, please reach out via email with further details.

I have several years of teaching experience and I am an accomplished public speaker. I have delivered creative writing workshops for up to 200 children and I have also been a panel speaker at the Black Britsh Literary Festival.

I love visiting schools, bookstores, and libraries and I’m happy to change presentations to suit your needs. My workshops cover the topics of Identity, Creative Writing, Black History and Belonging and they are aimed towards KS2 and KS3. However, I am more than happy to amend this to fit the ages of the older or younger students.
As a Middle Grade author who is passionate about encouraging reluctant readers, I am proud to be an official supporter of Coram Beanstalk. Coram Beanstalk is one of the UK’s longest running children’s charities that supports children from early years to early secondary to develop a natural love of reading. Coram Beanstalk recruits enthusiastic volunteers who provide 1:1 support with children who are falling behind in their reading. They have a variety of brilliant schemes to help children with their reading, including a secondary programme where older students are encouraged to support their younger peers. One of my massive 2023 highlights was being a speaker at Coram Beanstalk BookFest (pictured below) alongside many other authors including huge names like Liz Pichon the author/illustrator of the Tom Gates series! I was able to speak to loads of kids from backgrounds similar to my own, who were able to participate in the literary fest and hear inspiring interactive talks from authors and illustrators.
